Minto Energy Optimization
From LED to LED 2.0: The Power of Intelligent Lighting
Client: Minto
Partner: EcoBright Energy
Solution: LED 2.0 Retrofit with Integrated Motion & Dimming Sensors
The Challenge: Beyond Standard LED
Minto had already taken the first step toward sustainability by installing standard LEDs. However, these “dumb” LEDs remained on at 100% power even when areas were unoccupied. Minto sought a way to further reduce their carbon footprint and operating costs without a major capital outlay.
The Solution: The LED 2.0 Upgrade
EcoBright Energy implemented an intelligent lighting system across Minto’s portfolio. By replacing standard LEDs with LED 2.0 fixtures, Minto gained:
Integrated Intelligence: Every fixture now features built-in motion and dimming sensors.
Adaptive Illumination: Lights dim or turn off automatically in vacant stairwells, corridors, and parking areas.
Environmental Impact (Annual)
By saving 154,817.41 kWh annually, Minto has achieved a massive reduction in their carbon output. Based on the global average carbon intensity (Approx 0.475 kg CO₂/kWh):
| Metric | Annual Savings / Offset |
| Total Carbon Reduction | 73.5 Metric Tons of CO2 |
| Gasoline Equivalent | 17,000+ Gallons of Gasoline saved |
| Forestry Equivalent | 1,215 Tree Seedlings grown for 10 years |
| Household Equivalent | 14.6 Passenger Vehicles removed from the road |
Financial Performance
- Annual Electricity Savings: $8,150.54
- Total Wattage Reduction: 154,817.41 kWh
Key Project Highlights
- 8ft Strip Lights (191 Units): These high-output fixtures were optimized with an 84% sensor-driven saving rate, representing the largest single contributor to the carbon reduction.
- Dimming Sensors (318 Units): Used in residential corridors to maintain safety while slashing energy waste by 72%.
“Minto’s transition to LED 2.0 proves that sustainability is an ongoing journey. Even ‘efficient’ buildings have hidden waste that intelligent technology can eliminate.”
